Welcome to the English section of Stubai Yoga’s website!
As you’ll likely notice, most information provided on this website is written in German with the majority of those attending yoga in Stubaital being native German speakers. From September to June yoga classes are offered in multi-week courses. As such, one-time visits are only permitted during the summer months of July and August. Visiting guests of all nationalities are more than welcome to attend Stubai Yoga’s summer classes!
Stubai Yoga is a “one-woman show”, with me teaching all classes and ‘Fresh Air Yoga’ events. As a native English speaker from Canada, I can provide some English instruction during my classes but please note instruction is primarily given in German. For those new to yoga and/or wishing a customized yoga experience taught fully in English, private yoga sessions are available. These sessions are available year-round and take place at your home or hotel, in nature, or another location of your choice.
I’ve provided the most important information in English below. In addition to reading this information, please take the time to look throughout this website, as the video (home page) and images give you a good sense of what to expect in terms of atmosphere during the summer ‘Fresh Air Yoga’ classes.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my website, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to sharing yoga with you in Stubaital!!
Namaste,
Sherry
Yoga means “to yoke” and refers to the connection of body, mind and spirit. It is a philosophy and science (not a religion) that can be used to develop or maintain a healthy body, a clear and calm mind or a spiritual journey. Practising yoga is open to everyone regardless of age, gender, experience level, physical condition, and cultural or religious background. Over yoga’s 4000-year old plus history, different streams of philosophical thought and types of yoga practice have developed. I respect that various interpretations exist as to what it means to practice yoga, and I invite you to simply take from my classes those aspects that have the most value and meaning to you.
Stubai Yoga offers four weekly indoor and outdoor yoga classes over the summer months. These take place at the Widum (garden or indoors) in Mieders and at Kamplersee (Lake in Kampl) and in Neustift (indoor yoga room).
Please refer to the “Kalendar” page of this website, and the course description section of this page (view below) to see which yoga classes are being offered during your stay in Stubaital.

Sanft (Gentle) Yoga – not offered summer 2024
This class is held at a slower pace and exercises are selected and sequenced to support a healthy body & mind. Yoga props including blankets, blocks, bolsters, chairs and straps are often used to allow bodies to move into postures comfortably. All students will benefit from this class, including those with chronic health conditions, limitations related to age or size and those with a more vigorous yoga practice. No prior yoga experience required. For those with medical conditions, please check with your physician if you have any concerns about attending yoga.
Mindfulness Based Yoga („Achtsamkeitsyoga“ on the calendar page)
All classes offered by Stubai yoga are taught in a mindful manner. As we practice Yoga we are practicing how to be „awake“. The physical and mental practices of Yoga allow us to to tune into our feelings and bodily sensations from moment to moment. As we do this without any sense of judgement, we are training ourselves in mindfulness. This training, in turn, allows us to consciously live our lives and to respond to life circumstances versus simply reacting to them.
Mindful Yoga classes improve physical strength and mobility. Special breath (pranayama) and Meditation practices relax body and mind. The classes are taught in Hatha Yoga Style (postures are held for longer periods of time) or Vinyasa Yoga Style (movement is coordinated with breath).
Yoga in Garden
The Widum in Mieders offers a large and protected private garden very conducive to practicing yoga outdoors. The garden has views of the surrounding mountains and offers a peaceful environment for practicing yoga outdoors.
In case of rain, there are 12 available spots for this yoga class to take place inside the Widum. As spaces are limited, it is recommended that you reserve a space in advance if you wish to practice yoga indoors in the event of poor weather. 0043 (0)699 1058 7703.
Parking spaces are available at the Widum. Please wear comfortable clothing.
Yoga in Park
Practicing yoga outdoors at the Kampl lake allows you to sense the breeze on your skin, hear singing birds, feel contact between your feet and the wooden swimming platform, and watch swimming ducks. All of your senses are stimulated and relaxed at the same time during this outdoor yoga experience.
Parking is available at Kampl Lake. This class only takes place in good weather. An alternative class is offered indoors in case of poor weather. Preregistration is required for the indoor class. Sherry 0699 1058 7703. Please check the calendar page of this website as it is always current up to 60 minutes before a class takes place.

‘Fresh Air Yoga’ events are open to a wide range of participants, including beginners, but please note they are not the best introduction to yoga if you have physical limitations or injuries, as there are no yoga props available for these classes. Additionally, these events assume you can easily move up and down from the ground without assistance. Please bring warm and comfortable clothing with you. The ‘Fresh Air Yoga’ events only take place under good weather conditions. You are welcome to call 0043 (0) 699 1058 7703 prior to the class/event if it is unclear as to whether the event will take place or not.
